FOUNDERMonki Maseng

Monki.Maseng@sawstem.org
We elevate ourselves by uplifting others through acts of service. I am a Medical Lab/Research Scientist with a strong background in clinical, academic, and scientific research. I believe in the importance of sharing both our achievements and challenges to inspire the next generation in STEM careers. It’s not just our successes, but also the resilience we exhibit in the face of adversity that motivates others to pursue their dreams. This is why mentorship is paramount. The key to unlocking the Earth’s most untapped resources lies in our youth.

CHAIR Keagile Malebane

Keagile.Malebane@sawstem.org

My name is Keagile Malebane. A dynamic introvert who has a BA in social sciences and currently a strategic performance officer for a government department. I believe that at the core of human existence is a sense of community and the service of others.

The stem trust challenges one to look beyond their internal dialog and rather, highlight one’s values and humanity through the empowerment of young people who want to change the world through stem.

SECRETARYBonolo Phinius

Bonolo.Phinius@sawstem.org

I’m Bonolo Phinius, an aspiring virologist with a burning desire to ignite the passion for science in the upcoming generation. It is through this collective enthusiasm that we can equip aspiring scientists with the skills and expertise necessary to drive innovation both nationally and internationally.

Having benefited from mentorship throughout my academic and career journey, I am eager to contribute to the growth of STEM by guiding and mentoring the aspiring scientists who follow in my footsteps. Together, we can create a stronger foundation for the future of science.

TREASURERFaith Hungwe

Faith.Hungwe@sawstem.org

Being a part of Sister-Sister is about presenting someone with an opportunity that they had never heard of previously. If that includes equipping one with knowledge, a networking platform, or a mentor, it is an interaction that can change one’s ambition, perception, and attitude for a lifetime.

Having the knowledge and skills to be a versatile member of the STEM community is invaluable, and this is what drew me to Sister-Sister.

TREASURERLesedi Khunwana

Lesedi.Khunwana@sawstem.org

Currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Molecular biology at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus.

I believe in the saying that everything is theoretically impossible until it’s done. I would like to join the Sister-sister mentorship program to be able to not only play a role in breaking the negative stereotypes around stem in Botswana but also to show people the various benefits of laboring in the feild.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable environment for students to have access to quality STEM education. Our team’s focus is to ensure that students have the opportunity to develop the skills they need to excel in STEM subjects and pursue STEM-related careers.
